THE JAMES BAY FRONTIER —
This is where the real wilderness begins. It’s a place of unchanging,
uncompromising splendor of stark beauty, of true solitude. Come experience
Ontario’s Northern Frontier with us!
Day 1: To Cochrane, ON
We depart Ottawa this morning traveling up through the North making a stop at
the Cobalt Mining Museum before continuing on to our overnight destination of
Cochrane where our hosts at the Westway Inn will welcome us for the evening.
Day 2: To Moosonee, ON
Here’s your chance to experience one of the greatest four hour rail excursions
of the world - the famous Polar Bear Express and a true frontier experience.
Enjoy breakfast on the train while we travel through this uninhabited region of
the Arctic Watershed with sparsely populated land of forests and tranquil lakes
to the end of the line - Moosonee. Tonight we will have dinner and spend the
night at the Polar Bear Lodge. Then, you may wish to join in an optional
Twilight Bus Tour to spend some interactive time experiencing a truly unique
community. (B,D)

Day 3: To Cochrane, ON
After breakfast we depart for a wilderness cruise down the Moose River to James
Bay. Breathe in the crisp air of the Arctic as you sail the salt waters of James
Bay enroute to Moose Factory. Enjoy your box lunch aboard the boat. At Moose
Factory see and touch the relics of the fur trade that date back more than 300
years ago and visit the Centennial Museum and the Anglican Church built in 1860
by the Hudson’s Bay Company. Later this afternoon we’ll be transported back to
the train for our return excursion to Cochrane and the Westway Inn. Enjoy an
included dinner and entertainment aboard the train. (B,L,D)
Day 4: To Ottawa, ON
Today enjoy an early morning visit to the Polar Bear Habitat and Heritage
Centre, the only polar bear rehabilitation facility in the world. Later this
morning we continue our journey home with many fond memories of your Northern
Ontario Adventure Getaway.
